Tuna Steaks with Spicy Orange

Seems I was getting tired by the time I baked the tuna steaks and didn’t take a lot of pictures. Oh well, they still tasted good!

This was an experiment and knowing my tastes, I went light on the Aleppo Pepper, which the heat in this dish.

In this instance, I used Ahi tuna. Ahi has higher fat the albacore which gives it a more buttery texture. I think the Ahi is what made the spicing pair successful.

Just a few notes…

With 1 teaspoon of aleppo pepper, I could feel the heat! I think the next time I do this recipe, I’m going to cut the orange juce back 2 tablespoons and add 1 tablespoon honey to balace the heat of the pepper.

I found these tuna steaks quite enjoyable and paired well with the sauteed cabbage and onions. If you try this recipe, let me know your thoughts — more pepper? Less? Add honey?
